Evangelism and church expansion
The Church after its establishment did not limit its activity to the Madina township alone. With the help and leadership of the then BSPG the church embarked on evangelistic outreach programmes and this yielded good fruits with the establishment of preaching points in surrounding villages. They are the following:
- Kwabenya Atomic Presby Church now Prince of Peace Congregation
- Adentan Christ Presby Church now Christ Congregation
- Otano Presby Church now Bethel Congregation
- New Ashaley Botwe Presby Church now Ebenezer Congregation
- Mempeasem Presbyterian Church now Mt. Zion Congregation
- Madina West now Saviour Congregation
“Pray! And listen to God! You can do this alone, but find somebody to do it with you”
Application/Inspection
The Session at that time applied to the Presbytery through the La District under whose supervision the Church operated to be granted a District status.
The La District Minister without hesitation assembled a team for inspection to Madina. After satisfying the criteria, such as administrative and infrastructural development in Madina, there was no option for the team than to give approval and support for the elevation of Madina to District Status. This decision was communicated to the then Presbytery Chairman, Rev. E. Ayitey Atiapa, who endorsed it accordingly.
Elevation
The former Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana Rt. Rev. D.A. Koranteng elevated the Church to District status on 25th February 1990. He was assisted by Rev. Ayitey Atiapa, the then Ga Presbytery Chairman and Rev. E. Ansah Akyea Jnr. also a former Akuapem/Volta Presbytery Chairman. Rev. E.O. Asamoah became the first District Minister for the Madina District.
